https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMra1816604: “A large body of evidence suggests that consumption of caffeinated coffee does not increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancers. In fact, consumption of 3 to 5 standard cups of coffee daily has been consistently associated with a reduced risk of several chronic diseases. …”.
Er wordt dus gesuggereerd dat dagelijkse koffie, indien met mate gedronken, positieve gezondheidseffecten heeft (verminderd risico op diabetes II, leverziekten, depressie, Parkinson,…).
In het artikel zelf: “Consumption of 2 tot 5 standard cups of coffee per day has been associated with reduced mortality in cohort studies across the world”.
Edit. Hier het voornaamste m.b.t. bloeddruk: “In persons who have not previously consumed caffeine, caffeine intake raises epinephrine levels and blood pressure in the short term. Effect tolerance develops within a week but may be incomplete in some persons. Indeed, meta-analyses of trials of longer duration indicate that isolated caffeine intake (i.e., pure caffeine, not in the form of coffee or other beverages) results in a modest increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. However, no substantial effect on blood pressure was found in trials of caffeinated coffee, even among persons with hypertension, possibly because other components of coffee, such as chlorogenic acid, counteract the blood-pressure–raising effect of caffeine. Similarly, in prospective cohort studies, coffee consumption was not associated with an increased risk of hypertension.”
Zelf heb ik (40y) hypertensie, nog voor ik koffie ben beginnen drinken, en drink nu dagelijks 3 tassen koffie, met hypertensie onder controle, door meer bewegen, minder werken/stress en lichte medicatie.
