Main quest can be completed in about 25hrs, more or less depending on how fast you are. Offline weapons/equipments are capped at level 30 (purchasable from vendor/treasure boxes). All are very minor upgrades.
Higher level equipments require advancement online to Guild Rank (GR) 7 minimum.
From GR7 to GR9, you will obtain weapons/equipments from level 30 to max level 50. These give you moderate upgrades.
From GR10 to GR12, weapons/equipments come with significant bonus stats, these give massive upgrades.
However, to put things in persepective, I anticipate 90% of the players to wrap the game up after completion of main quest, 10% will brave the Gr7-9 grind, and less than 1% will make it out of that. Online in this game gives a whole new definition to patience and perseverance.
On another note, the Devs ARE trying to make the grind easier. In fact, at one point they made it so easy it pissed off a lot of the veteran players, so they retracted the changes. It might be better for the NA release to have its own dedicated server on "easy" mode to start out with.

Main quest can be done in 25 hours.
To complete the game, say getting all the trophy. You better quit your job for the next year.
