release: 25 mei 2018
genre: adventure
dev: Quantic Dream (FR)

Van de makers van Heavy Rain en Beyond: Two Souls.

Some of you might remember a PS3 tech demo called KARA that we released in 2012. It was about an android who discovered she could feel emotions and appeared to be sentient. Many people were deeply moved by this character and felt empathy for this character who just wanted to live. But everyone had the same question: what happens to Kara when she leaves the factory?

We didn’t want to do another story on AI (there are already so many great ones), we wanted to talk about what it means to be human and what it would be like to be in the shoes of an android discovering our world and their own emotions…

Detroit: Become Human is set in Detroit City during the year 2038 after the city has been revitalized by the invention and introduction of Androids into everyday life.

Beyond: Two Souls follow-up already in development - GameSpot.com

Quantic Dream boss David Cage is eyeing the future. The industry veteran told GamesIndustry International that he has plans for the next three games after Beyond: Two Souls, the first of which is already in development.

"I actually have probably my next three games in mind. Although I'm full speed on Beyond, I know what I'm doing after it because it's already in development," Cage said. "And I know what I'm doing after that and it probably after that. It's great because I have more ideas than I can develop."

Cage said he is constantly brainstorming new ideas for games, which "come naturally" to him. He said this constant thinking process is beneficial to the maturation and evolution of his ideas.

"It gives time to ideas really to evolve and to come to a moment where they're ready to be written," he said. "So it's not like I just finished Beyond - 'oh my God, what am I going to do with the next idea?' No, it's something that's matured for a very long time. That definitely helps a lot."

Cage did not share specifics on any of his new ideas, though it can be surmised that Quantic Dream's next body of work will not be a sequel Beyond: Two Souls. The developer has previously voiced his disdain for sequels, saying they "kill creativity."

Quantic Dream’s PS4 project: “You’d be amazed” by it, says Cage

Beyond: Two Souls creator David Cage has shed some light on the scope of Quantic Dream’s yet-unannounced PS4 title in a new interview.

Speaking with CVG, Cage said, “Trust me, if I showed you what we’re doing with the PS4 you would be amazed. It’s another world”.

Cage stressed that the PS4′s additional clout is liberating, and said, “Generally it will give us more subtlety, more nuance, more detail. New hardware provides new technologies that allow you to be more subtle. And that in itself does change the developer’s incentives.

“I probably wouldn’t have attempted Beyond on PS2 because I wouldn’t have thought I could get there. There would have been certain trade-offs.”.

He added on Beyond “We could have made just a sequel with Beyond. We could have gone with the same template and just fill the holes with different characters. But I started with a blank page and imagined completely different things. I don’t want to replicate the same things. The engine is completely different. We have built it from scratch”.

Quantic Dream hiring programmer with “a strong understanding of multiplayer”

Quantic Dream has posted a job listing for a lead online programmer with a “very deep and high knowledge of online gaming; network developments.” The firm would like for this person to have shipped a triple-A title with “significant experience in multiplayer gaming.” While Quantic’s next project, Beyond: Two Souls is a single-player title as with Heavy Rain, the firm’s David Cage has as in the past multiplayer is something he would consider in the future. Quantic Dream’s PS4 title has been in the works since mid-2012

Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls developer, Quantic Dream, was amongst the first developers to receive PS4 dev kits and began pre-production on its as-yet-unnannounced PS4 title in the middle of last year, the company’s vice president has told Eurogamer.

Quantic Dream VP Guillaume de Fondaumière has revealed that the company received its PS4 dev kit last year and has been working on pre-production of its unannounced PS4 title “since the middle of last year.”

de Fondaumière wouldn’t be drawn on when full production is likely to begin or even when Quantic Dream will be ready to talk about the game, rumoured to be called Singularity, saying only that “It’s a very ambitious project, so it’s going to start when it’s ready.”

Previously, studio founder David Cage said that if people could see what the developer is doing with the PS4 technology they would be “amazed”, further claiming that “It’s another world.”
