Typically, GameGuard errors are the result of a conflict between GameGuard and an installed security application on the PC. As a troubleshooting step, please disable all startup items to make sure that no background programs or processes are causing a conflict. To do this, please follow these instructions:
1. Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.
2. Type "MSCONFIG" without the quotes, and click "OK". This should open the System Configuration Utility.
3. Go to the "Startup" tab and click the "Disable All" button.
4. Next go to "Services" tab and check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" check box, then click the "Disable All" button.
5. Once these items are all disabled, click the "OK" button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.

Be sure to disable the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. This has been one of the biggest problems with customers playing the game on Windows Vista. To do this go to START > Control Panel > Firewall (Not Security Center) turn Firewall to 'Off'.
Then open Windows Defender by clicking the Start button > All Programs > Windows Defender > Tools > Options > Administrator options and scroll down to "Use Windows Defender" and un-check the box. Then click Save. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Try the game again and see if that corrects the problem. If that does not correct the issue then try going to START > Control Panel > User Accounts. Once there you will find an entry for 'User Account Controls'. Disable this and reboot the system. Then try the game again.
