Hitchcock heeft meerdere chalets gemaakt: The 39 steps gevolgd door Sabotage en uiteindelijk perfectioneerde hij de formule met deze film. Want ja dit is top 4 Hitchcock en beter dan Psycho. Cinematografisch is dit een parel en de muziek is ook geweldig. Het coole aan Hitch is dat hij eigenlijk alle grote switches heeft mee gemaakt: van stil naar gesproken en zwart wit naar kleur. En dat zorgt, in mijn ogen, voor een unieke stijl. De cast doet het in mijn ogen geweldig: Cary Grant speelt geweldig, heeft een geweldige chemie met een fantastische Eve Marie Saint en dan is er nog een uitstekende James Mason. Ja dit is een must, misschien nog meer dan Psycho gisteren. En voor fans van Bond en Indiana Jones: voor mij is dit de blue print van veel chaserfilms, avonturenfilms en spionagefilms.

En dan moet ik kiezen voor de film die mij een quasi religieuze ervaring heeft bezorgd en nog steeds één van de beste interpretaties van Jezus weergaf imo, om over de geschifte massascenes nog maar te zwijgen.

Hitchcock zijn beste en mijn nummer 2 allertijden. De cast is geniaal, het duo Stewart Novak heeft echt wel chemie, Bernard Hermann levert een geniale soundtrack af en visueel levert Hitchcock een paar van de mooiste scènes uit de filmgeschiedenis af.
Mijn andere 5 sterrenfilm voor dit jaar, Touch of Evil, mag het hier ook wel halen.
