Chinese sci-fi op het scherm is voor mij tot nu eerder miss dan hit geweest maar je moet het hen wel nageven, de plots zijn op zn minst origineel. Naar een verhaal van Liu Cixin (jawel diezelfde als die van 3 body problem) dus voorzichtig optimistisch?

● Drew Goddard zal een nieuwe film in de matrix franchise regisseren. That is all. excite!



● WondLa - Gebaseerd op een boek trilogie waar ik nog nooit van gehoord had. Heeft potentieel alhoewel ik niet zo wild ben van de artstyle. Trailer geeft precies ook al heel de plot weg.

● Meer dan 10 jaar na het origineel krijgt Coherence een vervolg. Low budget indie die met bijzonder weinig serieus wat wist te doen.

Best de moeite om eens te checken moest je hem nog niet gezien hebben.


● Nieuwe van Rustic productions (Benson & Moorhead) in aantocht en jawel ook deze lijkt lichte raakvlakken te zullen hebben met hun eerdere films zoals Resolution & The Endless!

Volgende trailers werden reeds eerder gepost in de trailer thread maar mogen hier gewoon niet ontbreken. ;p

Ik heb de indruk dat er in onze media niet echt aandacht aan werd besteed maar de stempel die deze kerel op hollywood drukte is enorm. Hij ligt mee aan de basis van de cinemataal die in genre cinema gebruikt wordt en hielp sci-fi en horror de mainstream in. Regisseurs als James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, Coppola, Ron Howard, ... hebben veel aan hem te danken en ook acteurs, zo hielp hij bijvoorbeeld Nicholson & Hoppers carriere lanceren. Check Corman's videografie op IMDB. Als je maar één film van hem ziet; X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes. Altijd een zwak voor gehad maar eerlijk de meeste van z'n films zijn op z'n minst interessant. Andere toppers; Bucket of Blood, Day the World Ended, House of Usher, The Pit and the Pendulum, Tales of Terror, Intruder, The Masque of the Red Death en natuurlijk; The Little Shop of Horrors. Zijn producer credits (493!!) staan boordevol interessante films, inclusief de regiedebuten van regisseurs die vandaag door iedereen gekend zijn. Corman heeft het hier best lang vol gehouden but still sad to see him go. Legend!

Enorm goed geresearched en volledig binnen mogelijkheid nu Noord Korea ICBMS heeft.

Eerlijk welk project Villeneuve's volgende ook wordt, ze klinken allemaal geweldig!


● Dune (en The Batman, The Creator, Rogue One, Zero Dark Thirty, Foxcatcher) Cinematographer Greig Fraser zal Phil Lord en Chris Miller’s volgende film; Project Hail Mary schieten.

"Project Hail Mary" is based on Andy Weir's novel of the same name and was scripted by Drew Goddard, who also penned Ridley Scott's hit movie adaptation of Weir's book "The Martian." The parallels don't end there: "Hail Mary," like "The Martian," mainly focuses on an astronaut who's far from Earth and in dire straits. Except, here, the spaceman is Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a former middle-school teacher who's left in an amnesiac state by a series of unfortunate events and must piece his memory back together in the middle of a space mission to save humankind. So no pressure?

● Ook al waren de Jurassic World films afgrijselijk, ze hebben veel te veel geld opgebracht om ze nu Trevorrow's trilogie afgewerkt is al op stal te zetten. Normaal zou ik met mijn ogen rollen en eens zuchten maar erhz... De namen die Spielberg en Amblin er deze keer aan verbinden zijn wel niet van de minste. Gareth Edwards tapped to direct , met David Koepp als screenwriter die tevens ook de screenwriter was voor de originele 2 Jurassic PARK (not world) films. Dus ja toch een zucht maar dan vooral omdat ik nu al weet wederom van partij te zullen zijn op 2 juli 2025 voor nog meer Jurassic World in de hoop that this time, this time it'll be better.

Zover was ik zelf ook geraakt maar het artikel borduurt daarop verder en brengt een best wel een leuke kijk, al is het dan door een lens van geopolitiek die de film kleurt.

Zal Zemeckis wederom flirten met de uncanny valley en belangrijker, gaat hij eindelijk nog is een goeie film afleveren? De comic waar deze op gebaseerd is lijkt al vast de moeite en maakt duidelijk waar ze heen willen maar exact hoe ze dat naar het doek gaan vertalen valt nog te bezien.

De film die na de opkoop van fox door disney een tijdje een serie werd, dan gecancelled leek, is nog steeds niet dood en wordt misschien terug een film. "That is still on," he said. "I finished the latest rewrite of that — which I'm really, really proud of — a couple months back, turned it into them, and we are in serious talks. We'll see. It's a very expensive film, and anytime you make a film at that level, you kind of have to deliver it up to the studio gods. We'll see what happens. But it takes place in Arkansas. ● In de 15 jaar sinds de Tron reboot is er heel wat gebeurd. De opvolger Tron: Ares is on track voor een 2025 release maar voor obvious reasons zal het deze keer zonder fenomenale Daft Punk score zijn.

Niet getreurd. Disney heeft zonet aangekondigd wie die legendarische schoenen mag vullen... Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross. En niet zo maar Reznor & Ross. NIN! Nine Inch Nails is back baby.

Vond die eerdere Tron reboot niet echt denderend en heb jammer genoeg ook wel mijn twijfels over deze film gezien een veel groter stuk zich in onze wereld zal afspelen ipv de virtuele wereld maar hey Daft Punk's derezzed album knalt hier nog regelmatig door de boxen dus zelfs als het enige dat we hier aan overhouden een NIN score is van gelijkaardige kabliber ben ik al meer dan tevreden.

En naast deze eclectische mix hebben ze er ondertussen al een stevige carriere in filmmuziek opzitten ook. van de fenomenale score voor The Social Network to de score van Quake 1. Natural Born Killers, Bones and All, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Lost Highway, Soul, Gone Girl, Ken Burns Vietnam docu en recent nog Challengers... stuk voor stuk totaal verschillende bangers. hyped!

I know, I know; "Sir, this is a disney movie" maar zou heerlijk zijn moest het zo unhinged zijn als hun Tetsuo: Bullet Man theme.


● Avatar 3 is no longer "The Seed Bearer".
So many jokes just died stillborn.

● Al dit nieuws is afkomstig van Disney's D23 expo en daar werd nog wel meer voorgesteld zoals trailers voor de nieuwe mandalorian film alsook S2 van Andor. Die zijn reeds online gelekt in crappy cam quality maar zullen één van volgende dagen wel in deftige kwaliteit op de officiele kanalen verschijnen.


● De reviews are in en wat iedereen van mijlenver zag aankomen lijkt bevestigd te worden. Borderlands is een stinker van formaat. Lijkt zelfs nog onder de al lage verwachtingen binnen te komen. 10% rotten tomatoes en 27% metacritic. Impressive!

Een oudere film heeft wel veel gelijkenissen met de sci-fi klassieker Alien.

Er zijn idd wel enkele opvallende gelijkenissen maar lijkt me eerder toeval. Niet vergeten dat Star Wars 2 jaar eerder uitkwam dus bijvoorbeeld die shots met static camera onder een ruimteschip dat erover raast waren toen erg in trek. Waar ik niet eens mee wil zeggen dat star wars de eerste was die dat deed maar die maakte het wel zo populair dat studios dat success probeerden te kopieren. Zelfs die schip naam, koers en crew info die op het scherm komt werd al in verschillende eerder sci-fi films op exact dezelfde manier weergegeven. Hetzelfde voor die wake from hybernation scene die ook al in eerdere films werd opgevoerd. Dat shot van die astronaut in het rode ruimtepak met bulky rugzak die door een witte gang wandelt toont zelfs niet eens zoveel gelijkenissen met dat in alien en lijkt op zijn beurt eerder geinspireerd door 2001 of misschien ook gewoon toeval of onbewust gerepliceerd.

Maar het grootste argument tegen plagiaat is het feit dat er maar 6 maand zit tussen beide releases. Daarnaast dateert de eerste draft van het alien script al van 1976. Meer dan 2 jaar voor de release van Blindpassasjer.

Is nog maar uit van gisteren, maar ik ben er op een dag helemaal doorgebinged.
Naar mijn mening het beste dat er uit het Terminator universum is gekomen sinds T2 Judgement Day. De sfeer is er helemaal en er is voor het eerst een beetje diepgang in de hoofdpersonages en het concept van tijdreizen. Emotionele sul als ik ben heb ik er zelfs een traan bij gelaten, maar niet voor wat je denkt.

Als de animatie je genre is, aanrader!

● Dark Matter heeft groen licht gekregen voor een 2e seizoen.

Was vrij afgerond dus benieuwd waar ze met het tweede seizoen naartoe gaan. Ik vermoed dat we niet langer Edgerton en Connelly's avonturen zullen volgen maar die van de randpersonages zoals Blair en Leighton.

● Ben sowieso al niet zo'n Coppola fan dus heb serieus mijn bedenkingen bij deze. Maar het minste dat je er van kan zeggen is dat het er vrij uniek uitziet dus in dat opzicht toch best interessant. Aanschouw de full trailer van Megalopolis! ;p

● Things Will Be Different van Felker is Benson & Moorhead produced en lijkt zo te passen in hun Endless, Synchronic & Resolution universe.

Knappe teaser die onmiddelijk de interesse wekt. Scoorde redelijk wat buzz op het Berlin film festival. Van de hand van Jérémy Clapin, dezelfde regisseur die in 2019 het vrij fenomenale I Lost my Body afleverde. Three years ago, Elsa’s astronaut brother Franck vanished into outer space.
