Nu gaat "elektro" dezelfden tour op, spijtig voor de mensen die er echt graag naar luisteren en ni gewoon meelopen maarja.
Enfin soit eenmaal uw stijl mainstream raakt gaat der veel mis gaan.

I beg to differ.

The original Melbourne Shufflers never intended it to be just one set of moves, they had many moves to suit all sorts of moods and styles of music. Their emphasis was on personal freedom, to dance how you liked. Your moves could adapt to your surroundings, whether at a crowded club, large warehouse or outdoors. You could use your arms, jump, spin, run, bend, twist, move sideways, forwards, backwards, move your head, whatever you liked. It also adapted to your energy levels. Originally Melbourne Shufflers would dance all night 6-8 hours. Moving hard, moving slow, moving fluidly, moving chaotically. It didn't matter how you moved, as long as you moved.
Always developing was a prime characteristic too. You would turn up to dance parties to see what new moves others had created. It kept the Melbourne Shuffle fresh and interesting both for the dancers and those watching. There was no desire to stagnate. The oldskool was a creative community. We lived to create, it was as important as breathing to us. Just doing the same old moves every week year in year out was like death to us. There was no purpose in it. It would be like listening to the same 3 music tracks for the rest of your life, the Melbourne Shuffle was no different. Why limit yourself to just a few moves?
You got one set of moves down, then you developed others. You'd mix these around whenever you felt like it. You could dance together or by yourself, imitate, innovate or create, these were all part of the oldskool. It was about fun.
Incorporating hat tricks is just one new addition over the years and using stomping moves to hardstyle is another. Both these elements are still part of the Melbourne Shuffle, even though they weren't around in the oldskool era.
The point of the Melbourne Shuffle is to explore and develop creative freedom. It's open ended. There were no oldskool Shuffle Police going around making sure everybody did exactly the same moves, that was not the nature of the Melbourne Underground. There were no rules, no set of instructions, no limits. There was no right or wrong way. This was a completely different culture to hip-hop, classical ballet or even ballroom dancing.
The Melbourne Shuffle emerged at a time when the world was sick and tired of the two global super powers dictating how we should live, what we should believe, and being punished if we stepped out of line. The Melbourne Shuffle was our response to this. Our dancing was about personal freedom, not external control, rules and regulations.
The 'Shuffle' label is just that, a label, that's stuck over the years as people have tried to describe they way Melbourne dancers, danced. A more accurate description would be to call it Melbourne Freedom, but 'Shuffle' is the one everybody knows, and Melbourne Freedom sounds a bit wanky.
We had no desire for global domination with a few select gods of dance telling everybody how to move. That just wasn't in our nature. Everybody's contribution was considered valid, from beginners to experienced. The Melbourne Shuffle is an inclusive dance style, not exclusive.
People danced for the joy of dancing, no other reason.
