Inter resume Cassano chase?
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic on his way to Barcelona, Inter are reportedly ready to splash out £16m on Antonio Cassano.
The Sampdoria starlet is a known Nerazzurri supporter and has often hinted he would love to play for Jose Mourinho’s side.
According to ‘Tuttosport’, President Massimo Moratti thinks the best way to win back the fans after selling Ibra to Barcelona would be signing FantAntonio.
“I would say that there is at least a 98 per cent chance that Cassano will remain at Marassi,” said director general Beppe Marotta this week.
“That is also because nobody, including Inter, have enquired after him.”
It was nonetheless a reduction, as earlier in the month Marotta had placed Cassano’s chances of remaining at closer to 100 per cent.
Inter are now flushed with fresh funds after handing Ibrahimovic over for Samuel Eto’o, the loan of Aliaksandr Hleb and £40m cash.
It is rumoured Cassano has a clause in his contract freeing him for £16m, but that could be reduced even further if players were included in the transfer.
Sampdoria already confirmed they were interested in winger Amantino Mancini, while David Suazo and defender Nelson Rivas are also options.
Victor Obinna, Nicolas Burdisso and Patrick Vieira are on the market and looking for buyers to whittle down the squad.
