Concept :

Kozzmozz has joined forces with Democrazy to take their minimal concept Ultra back to the underground.

We’re also literally taking Ultra underground as we moved to the Minus One location, a completely new venue: a bunker under the ground with a true party atmosphere! A treat to discover for all party-fans : Minimal design for maximum pleasure !

Our second party with Tony Rohr and Heartthrob was described as the best party of last year by the frequent clubbers of The Clubbing and they know what they are talking about.

So we surely hope also you will join us on this third edition for which we’ve invited two international names that you have to see.

Jay Haze ( also known as Fuckpony and more) is a name to be found on labels such as Playhouse, Cocoon and Get Physical. Next to that he has not less than 5 labels of his own : Tuning Spork, Contexterrior, Junion, Futuredub, and Textone. His tracks and the tracks on his label are played by all the major players in the scene and now you will be able to enjoy them by the man himself on Ultra.

Pompelmoessap are not from Belgium or Holland as you may expect but have sprung from Luciano’s former studio in Geneva, Switzerland. They have a first LP out on Plak records and more material from these 3 childhood friends is to be expected soon on Lessizmore, Archipel, Motoguzzi and Foundsound.

Our resident Spacid who reigns the decks at our various concepts as Beats of Love and Retro Acid, will show his knowledge of minimal music, together with two fellow Belgians.

The first, a very well known name with his Statik Dancin’ parties in Brussels, Darko from Lucy Lee Recordings.

The second building up a name very fast lately is DJ Tone from Music Man who brings us his Jonas Muller concept. A set with 2 midi-controllers, a laptop, a lot of loops and plugins for that extra party feeling !

Artists :

Jay Haze (TuningSpork, Contexterrior, Berlin)

Jay Haze is the name behind a number of aliases and projects – Bearback, the Architect, Fuckpony, Dub Surgeon – these are just some of the guises he uses when fighting his guerilla war against mediocrity on a daily basis. Born in Pennsylvania, Haze has been living in Berlin since the early 00s, in which time he has released records and remixes on most of the hottest dance music labels of the decade: Playhouse, Kitty-Yo, Cocoon, Get Physical, Soma, Crack
and Speed, Karloff, Musik Krause, and Underline.

But of course as well as doing tracks for others, Haze is responsible for running several labels himself: Tuning Spork, Contexterrior, Junion, Futuredub, and Textone, sometimes with an iron fist, other times with a white diamond studded glove and a cane. But in either instance Haze is used to finding and producing dance jams that stretch the genre beyond the limits of the beat and into the territory of lurid nightclub art.

Haze's production career began in the year 1999 on the house-oriented Tuning Spork, which had just been born and left on earth to fend for itself, like Superman. Haze watched over Tuning Spork from the sky while earthlings began to pay attention. In the following year he launched Futuredub as a home for downtempo electronic dub, and in 2002 he started the techno-oriented Contexterrior, with a full-length mix CD of unreleased material in a crazy banana sheaf package. In 2003, more Contexterrior twelve-inches dropped. At this time Haze also had the novel idea of founding Textone, an online electronic music magazine and internet label project. This enterprise yielded thousands of downloads, long before any other labels considered giving away music for free and before digital distribution was commonplace in the DJ community.

By 2004 Haze recorded a collaborative EP with his buddy Ricardo Villalobos on Contexterrior, and also did a remix for his hit "Easy Lee" on Frankfurt's Playhouse, all while Tuning Spork was becoming one of the major league labels. As the world looked to Berlin for some sick new grooves, Spork was there to offer them, with releases from names who are now household in the world of house and techno (e.g. Robag Whruhme, Samim & Michal). The following year saw Haze's stock rising even more rapidly. With his first full-length album on Kitty-Yo, Love for a Strange World, and the Berlin Pimpin EP on Musik Krause, as well as remixes for Shitkatapult, Disko B, Soma , Catennacio, and Was Not Was, it was now clear that Haze and his growing empire were here to stay.

Haze launched yet another label in 2006, this time it was Junion, which is another jewel in an itchy, heavy crown, with releases from Haze under various guises, as well as Argenis Brito and Jambi. This year also saw Haze enjoying some crossover success with teens and some parents when he released the massively acclaimed Children of Love album as Fuckpony on Get Physical Music. For many fans and critics this was one of the best house records of the year, bringing some heat back into an increasingly cold German scene, and was quickly followed by two special Dark Side Of The Pony 10-inches on GPM. Haze also released the massive Fuckaponydelic 12”, “Switch The Lights", an acid-drenched biblical journey into sin, which was picked up by Sven Vath's label Cocoon for a major re-release. To cap off his biggest year yet, Haze returned home to Tuning Spork to release Berlin Pimpin Pt. 2, which was played by all the big league DJs around the globe.

Known for his skills not just as a producer, Jay Haze has DJed in all of the German clubs whose names are now known to techno fans all over the world: Panorama Bar, Harry Klein, you name it. He has also played throughout Europe and around the world, most recently in 2007 with a tour of Australia and Asia. Haze also has a residency at London's worldfamous Fabric club, as well as Tenax in Italy.

His tracks (and the tracks his labels release) are a constant feature in the sets of Villalobos, Anja Schneider, Ivan Smagghe, and all DJs who know, the world over. Jay Haze’s tracks have appeared on countless hot compilations and mixes, including Richie Hawtin's DE9 , Sven Vath's Sound of the Sixth Season , Miss Kittin's A Bugged Out Mix, and M.A.N.D.Y.'s Body Language . This year Haze has exciting plans to release music on the almighty UK label Soul Jazz Records under his dub project Sub Version, and is also planning another solo album that will reveal his love for hiphop and soul. Meanwhile the empire of labels Haze runs continues to suck in new fans like a vacuum cleaner. The Jay Haze story continues with pace, but it is a timeless and simple one, the tale of a man who makes, releases, and plays the world's most psychedelic dance music. It's no surprise that Spielberg and Hanks want to make this into a movie!

Pompelmoessap Live (Plak Rec, LessIzMore, Igloo, Genève)
Pompelmoessap is an energetic elixir, with a fresh, subtle sound, distinguished by a light and captivating groove driven by some cadenced rhythms. Composed by 3 childhood friends, Pompelmoessap links friendship and music to push their work beyond the conventions of electronic music.
Early seduced by rock, blues, jazz and classical music, the discovery of electronic music snapped them in an other dimension and they were suddenly mesmerized by Detroit techno & minimal sounds.
The trio started collaborating in 2000 by experimenting with soft vibes and lush textures. However, it was through watching Luciano (Cadenza) composing in his own studio, that Pompelmoessap became deeply inspired to create their own sound. Therefore, they decided to commit themselves entirely to learning the art of music composition by training as electronic music producers at “SAE School Geneva” and gaining professional experience in recording studios. Supported by Sonja Monnear, Dandy Jack, Agnès, Lee Van Dowski and many more, the team began to set up their own studio in Luciano’s former studio on the hills of Lake Geneva and soon Pompelmoessap was born.
Straightaway, Pompelmoessap drew a following in the electronic music scene with live performances and DJ sets. Chaton (Head of the famous Plak Records label) discovered Pompelmoessap through an on-line live set and invited them to produce a “Plak” LP on his label.
The first LP “Winters are getting shorter” (Plak-rec. n015) has been a smashing hit exploding the dancefloors & the charts world wide. The record is played by many international artists, Richie Hawtin loves it and always takes it with him.
Pompelmoessap are touring trough out Europe, setting fires at places like Fuse Club in Brussels, Air Festival in Reconvilier and have a regular presence at Plak parties and at Piping Club – D3 Parties in Geneva where the crowds love to groove to their special & frenzied vibes.
Constantly working on new tracks, Pomplemoessap will soon release on Pheek’s label Archipel as on LessIsMore, MotoGuzzi, Plak and FoundSound.

Spacid (Retro acid, Ultra, Ghent)

Spacid started collecting music from a very early age and played occasionally on weddings and block parties. His first influences were Synthesizer Greatest (Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis ...) and new wave club classics (Front 242, Depeche Mode ...), later welcoming Belgium's New Beat craze and early Chicago house.

Spacid's first steps playing in front of a public dates back to 1991, while being a resident dj at Le Café in Kortrijk. There, once settled behind his trusty Technics, he played all the early electronic music this dance culture had to offer in those days. Together with some friends, Spacid organised his first party in 1992, which turned out to be a big success. After a few parties in the club Carioca, he was involved in setting up the club Cirao in Waregem Belgium. He was 17 then. The club was short-lived but is still remembered as one the legendary and trendsetting clubs in Belgium.

1994 saw the founding of Funky Green Aliens, a party organisation and booking agency concentrating on promoting groundbreaking music & arts and introducing international artists to the Belgian scene. These parties, mostly illegal, were very successful and still to this day represent the true roots of Spacid's dj career.

By 1997 he was propelled to slots at the biggest clubs and parties in Belgium and abroad, such as Dance Valley, Ten Days Off and Kozzmozz. His name started popping up in all major Belgian clubs and events and today he is resident at various important party concepts such as Body To Body at the famous Culture Club, Beats Of Love, Elektron, Retro Acid, Ultra ..

Apart from a busy dj schedule in Belgium he regularly plays abroad. Just have a look at line-ups of parties, festivals and clubs in France, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Poland and Malta. e manned the decks in British clubs and parties like Club Trash, Herbal, The Key, House of God, Downtownsounds, Human Zoo, Death disco and played in about every major Dutch club such as Paradiso, Club 013, Melkweg, Effenaar, Doornroosje. He was even invited at the Berlin Weekend club and Paris's 'Respect is Burning'.

A real ambassador of the vibrant club scene, both his quest for innovation and his reverence for the past transpire in his work as a dj. Spacid's sets are fuelled by an underlying thought process aimed at providing party people a good time and at the same time opening up music that is less evident to a larger public.

Darko (Statik Dancin', Lucy Lee rec, BXL)

DJ from the age of 17, Darko has earned deserved respect on the Belgian music scene. With frequent appearances at the countries major clubs and dance festivals alongside the likes of Richie Hawtin ( @ Ten Days & Groove City) , Ricardo Villalobos (@ I love Techno), Felix Da Housecat, Erol Alkan, Trevor Jackson, James LCD Murphy, 2 Many DJs, Darko has built a reputation for unshakeable quality, good times guaranteed.

With the cheeky twinkle to his seriously-serious-side, he has long been seducing those further a field: in Paris (Nouveau Casino, Batofar, We love,) Berlin (WMF), or London (Fesh Club 333). Appealing directly to the melomaniac within, Darko is a DJ trusted by the hypest fashion circles (Including Louis Vuitton, Sonia Rykiel, Barbara Bui, Xavier Delcour, Antwerp Fashion Academy, La Cambre Mode) and most discerning underground crowds alike.

To satiate his appetite for all things minimal Darko started Statik Dancin. Now in its fourth year, this hugely popular bi-monthly night shines out with guests including Michael Mayer, Krikor, Tobias Thomas, Losoul, Superpitcher, Jeff Samuel, Koze, Dominik Eulberg, Chloe, Ada, Matias Aguayo, Ferenc, Lawrence, Barbara Morgenstern etc.

At Statik Dancin, Darko has successfully cultivated an unmistakable vibe that proves as popular with artists, as with their receptive fans. Bliss and inner sparkle prevail. As minimal booms in Belgium, he leads his Statik Dancers into vast soundscapes to taste emerging delights. Happy people spoilt!

The Jonas Müller project (dj Tone, music man, Ghent)

With a classical music education of 7 years on the background, Tone is now an active dj/party-organizer based in Gent (Belgium). Since discovering techno music, he was immediately sold to electronic music.

With parties like ‘Undergroundz’ and 'Always wanted to Party' he likes to keep the public shaking. He already performed on many underground parties and clubs in Belgium, France and different national radios with styles that are going from deep underground Detroit techno over electronica to pumping dance-floor beats.

His daily full-time job is vendor of vinyl records in the Music Man Dance Store, and his only mission on stage is to make the people dance. Be prepared for a set consisting out of the newest techno-minded tracks under his project 'the Jonas Müller project', who also had pleased already many people on national radio, clubs and specially German people during the last year. This concept is focused on the newest technology of djing, where 2 midi-controllers, a laptop, a lot of loops and plugins will make this set unique.
