..:: SILVAHFONK vs FRE4KNC ::. (Subsonik, Break-Fast) - Groningen, NL
Silvahfonk | Fre4knc
This duo from Groningen is well known in their hometown and beyond. Five years ago Silvahfonk became resident at SUBSONIK (alongside Josje aka Yorobi), a party that has place at the Simplon venue in Groningen. He played there next to international DJs as Ed Rush, John B, Nu:Tone, Lee and Mayhem. Besides that, he was recruited by the Complex Beatz crew, from the well known recordlabel. This resulted in getting to a lot of different spots all across the country. Some forthcoming gigs will be at large events like a Bassbin Special at A'dam and Clash of the Titans at Rotterdam.
His style can be described as very variated and energetic. His fast mixing and fluidly switching styles is a trademark he and his compagnion Fre4knc share. Silvahfonk's passion for jungle and Fre4kc love for melodic dnb can be heared in their sets but they don't know any limits when it comes to subgenres. But they always try to spin what they call 'pure' dnb like Breakage, High Contrast, Break, Calibre, etc... Both DJs have been producing their own tracks lately, often together with Amplicon. Most of them are reggea or liquid minded.
Next to DJ'ing and producing Fre4knc organises an event called BREAK-FAST at Club29 in Groningen. They always try to combine famous DJs with new talent. Some national and international names who played there are Teebee, Falcon, Lokal, Yorobi, Roemtak and Sektor. In 2004 was Fre4knc nominated for "best breakthrough DJ" for the dutch dnbawards. In the future he will perform at Hopla (Leeuwarden, NL) and Monomuzik in Oberhausen (Germany).

.:: SPEEDWAGON vs WICKED WAYZ ::. (Nightscapes, Illforms) - Leuven

Another back2back session will be done by this duo from Leuven. Speedwagon is sometimes called 'the Belgian Andy C' because of his jump selection and super fast and tight mixing. Since 1999 he is DJ'ing at events like Logical Progression (Zichem) and Drum in the Basement (Glabbeek). But later on he's been spinning all over the country in venues like Silo, Decadance, Zoo and Muziekodroom. AS a resident in the Nighscapes Crew he has organised numorous free parties and yearly open-air events.
In 2002 he won the Yellow Fever DJ Contest in Leuven, where Wicked Wayz (part of the Illforms Crew) was one of the organisers. Their first b2b gig was at Yellow Fever itself and since then they play regurarly as a team. At Radio Scorpio they play every monday at 'Concrete Jungle'. Their style together is a mixture of reggae driven rollers, darkstep, jumpup and some liquid once in while.
But in fact it's all about the tunes itself, no matter what style. That attitude can also be recognized in Wicked Wayz' own tunes. Since 2003 he is training his computerskills and his last pieces show a high knowledge of catchy and carefully produced sounds. As a DJ he spinned at Brabanthal, Silo, Rumba, Musicafé,... But his breakthrough was certainly confirmed by winning of a DJ Contest for AB Brussels. As the 1st price he played at one of their Full Cycle events.

My passion for drumnbass began 5 years ago, when I heard Goldie perform, an absolutely mint set by the legend himself. The vibe of this form of electronic music was passed on and soon I started collecting various dnb tracks. As I started playing out more often, I soon realised that I especially like the liquid side of dnb. Nowadays I mainly concentrate on the party vibe, I try to deliver what the crowd wants. Besides being a member of Mixtures Hotel, I also form the second half of the Payback Crew. Both organisations were a huge support to boost through the music industry! Being in the dnb scene for 4 years gave me the opportunity to play alongside people as Milennium Kru, Bigheadh, DARYL, Wildchild, Lenzman, Soul MC, XZ32, Border, Karlito, Buscemi and so on.

I started dj'ing in 2001 as AMbush but quickly changed my name into I-Witness. I co-organized some parties in Glabbeek (Bunker : Drum in the basement) and Leuven (Rumba : Wasted) in 2003 and also spinned myself on Wasted. In the same year i won a dj-contest in Aartselaar. Getting in touch with more d&b-freaks in Leuven and on the internet i played on some small parties (Assault, Konektionz) in 2004. With a friend i started DISTRAXION to do our own parties in Leuven. Since 2005, Sicko (Payback Crew) and myself are planning to organise monthly free parties in Gent. My style can variate a lot but I prefer housy and techy dnb.
