Heb een thread lopen op Nvidia, maar toch wou ik dit graag ook hier posten, is wel in het engels:

I'm experiencing a weird problem, though I've been reading many simular cases regaring to a more then sufficient power supply present but still getting the Nvidia Sentinal message of unsufficient power to the graphicscard/GPU.

The system is not overclocked, infact I never overclocked with this system. All hardware is brandnew.

Using a ANTEC 1000W TruePower Quattro

Motherboard
=> Asus P5N32-E SLI 680i nForce

Mem:
=> OCZ Reaper series 2GB PC6400

OS
=>Fresh install of Windows XP Service Pack 2 ( tried Vista also)

Latest Nvidia nForce drivers and Geforce drivers from the website.

Issue:
=> 3DMark06 => 2FPS and a score of around 1000

I have two PNY 8800 GTS 2.0 512MB's, but the problem exists also with only one graphicscard fitted, so currently only one graphicscard is installed. When I boot up in Windows XP I get the Sentinel message regarding to low power on the GPU and very horrible, unrealistic, performance in about every 3D application.

I tried the following:

- Latest Mobo bios updates and drivers
- Remove every hardware other then the mobo and the harddrive so that the PSU is only used minimal
- Removed the PCIe powercords and replaced them
- Switched from the PSU PCIe connectors to the Molex connector drawing power from two completly empty 12V PSU circuits
- Removed the graphicscard and put it back in (to avoid slot issues)
- Swapped the graphicscard with the other one (have two)

Nothing worked to resolve this issue, I've been reading many things. Some people talk about how the latest Nvidia drivers messes up some PSU's, others talk about needing a whopping 26A input on the 8800 GTS 2.0 512MB model, some talk about the PSU simply not being sufficient (1000W Antec ??). Some people talk about the sentinal driver being all wrong, Others talk about maybe the motherboard not delivering enough additional or base power to the cards.

I'm getting very desperate, any ideas on what to do ? I mean the ANTEC 1000W TruePower Quattro should be able to power a motherboard one harddrive and one graphicscard, how on earth can it be that this PSU is not sufficient ?

Before I go an buy me another PSU, I'd like to be 100% sure its the PSU, but I'm currently not

uw voeding is zeker meer dan zwaar genoeg .
ik zou ook eerder denken dat aan de drivers ligt , heb je de beta drivers al getest ?

Nog geen andere drivers getest, zal ik zeker eens doen als ik thuis ben.

Saw your post over on Abit and almost left this post there for you. You could be right about the power supply there is another issue besides the PCI-E GEN1/GEN2 thing which has affected only a handful of motherboards. There is another weird issue which use to effect the 8800GTX series of cards and it was triggered by a Firmware Bug in some power supplies and quite often Antec Quattro 850w and 1000w were involved. Most of the time this False Low Power Error will produce an Nvidia Sentinel Error saying " the graphics card is not recieving enough power, the graphics card performance has been decreased to prevent damage to hardware". I've seen this same issue crop up here and there with a few 8800 GT owners. Your issue sounds similar to this one except you're not getting the False Lower Power Warning. Borrowning your friends power supply is a great idea. Good Luck.

Lijkt dus een PCIe GEN1/GEN2 ding te zijn in combinatie met bepaalde PSU's, want ik heb nog berichten gelezen van 1000W voedingen van andere merken.

I have been following this topic for quite a while since I have the same problem, I have contact my video card manufacturer and after several hours of support and even doing and exchange on the video card I have finally come up with the problem, and it is the Power Supply, yes I have a 1000 watts PSU and it still has problems, so finally after some heavy research (god bless Google) I found out that my power supply had an output of 18 amp while the video card requires 26 amp and so that makes it slowdown because it can't get enough power. I am yet to test this since the stores are closed, but I've tried everything and that seems to be the only thing that I have not done and that makes sense

Nog iemand issues gehad met de laatste GTS kaarten (drie of vier weken oud) en 800/1000w voedingen ?

die gekke overkill voedingen toch

Voor 2X 8800 GTS 2.0 512MB's in SLI is niet echt meer overkill te noemen hoor

ik heb een antec quattro 850W en een GTS bollen gehad geen probs mee

lol ja, die voedingen zijn echt overdreven tegenwoordig, met een deftige 500 komt ge nog heel vaak toe, sli rond de 700 zonder twijfel.

ik heb een voeding van de witte producten van 450W en mijn 8800GTS 512 draait daar ook op

Corsair HX620 kan dat zonder problemen aan. 1000W is voor elk systeem overkill.

1000W is voor vrijwel alles overkill. Een overklokte core 2 setup met 2 ferm overklokte Ultra's verbruikt nog geen 600W, laat staan 1000.

@TS: Ik heb weinig op te merken, buiten: Sentinel, insufficient, similar, more than/other than, in fact/brand new, regarding (zonder to). Algemeen niveau van uw engels ligt verder mooi hoog
