Put simply, agro is how much a monster hates people. Every monster keeps a list of everyone it is aware of, and how much it hates them. It then tries to kill the person at the top of the list.
How it works is a little more complicated. I'll start with how you get on the agro list in the first place. There are four main ways:-
1) Do something that affects the monster, for example attacking it or casting a spell on it.
2) Get within 'agro range' of the monster. This range varies depending on your relative level to the monster, the higher above you the monster is the further away it will agro from.
3) Do something to assist someone already on the monster's agro list, for example heal or buff them.
4) Do any of the above to a monster to which this monster is 'linked', either directly or just by proximity. Many monsters will join in if they see another nearby monster being agroed.
Any of these four things will get you onto the agro list of that monster.
Now that you're on the agro list, I'll cover how you go up on it.
Basically, beside your name on the agro list is a number, representing just how much the monster hates you. Everything you do from now on will alter that number. The bigger the number, the more hate, and the biggest number is the one getting pummelled.
The simplest part of going up the list is damaging the monster. Every point of damage you do gets you one point of hate. So, if everyone just attacks the monster and nothing else, it will start hitting the person doing the most damage.
Many skills, however, do not involve damage, or have another component. In these cases, that non-damage component will have a hate value associated with it. What that value is, exactly, only the Devs know, but if it's a particularly high number they do at least tend to put 'Causes a lot of agro' in the description. Using these skills obviously increases your agro.
And then there's healing. After a fair amount of testing, I can say with a good degree of certainty that for every two points of Morale healed, the healer gets one point of hate. So if a Minstrel heals you for 1000 Morale, they get 500 Hate. The important, and unique, point here is that they get that 500 hate with every monster who has the healed person on their agro list.

niet echt nee![]()
. . . . Dus is het belangrijk dat je je Hoeveelheid aggro controleerd. Dat je de tank niet in moeilijkheden gaat brengen door bvb AoE te gaan casten.
