You wandered into this topic thinking to yourself that I’m wrong and you’re right… right?
Well, you’re wrong! If you could only see how in depth Big Rigs is you’d recognize that it’s a stroke of genius. To fully understand Big Rigs, you must fully understand the story.
Now I can hear you all saying, “Dude, this guy’s out of his mind! How can a racing game have a story!?”
Guess what? You’re wrong again! Big Rigs’ story is so in depth that its puts pitiful plots like Final Fantasy VII to shame. And really, how can you understand Big Rigs when you find Final Fantasy VII’s plot confusing or “in depth”?
Of course, you’re going to play the “Oh! Big Rigs is really buggy and unrealistic” card.
*Sigh*
When I first played this game, I was all like, “Dude! This game is horrible! The A.I. doesn’t exist, it just… sits there! The graphics suck! I mean, how are those… things supposed to be rigs!? What’s with the reverse drive? It goes the exact same speed as going forward does! And what’s with the tracks? They look horrible and when I go out of the tracks boundaries, I still keep going off the course!”
Oh, how naïve I was…
When I played it through for a second time I began to understand this game. I began to understand the…
Story
The story is just brilliant. It’s… beautiful.
You play as an alien disguised as a big rig and your “opponent” is really your friend, another alien disguised as a big rig. The tracks? They’re from another world… Actually, they are other worlds. I mean, how else could you explain how horrible they look? They look alien, and that’s what Big Rigs wanted to do. But once you start your track, all hell breaks loose. You discover that your friend has been poisoned! Oh, what a tragedy it is… You then realize that they must be after you, so you make a mad dash in hopes that you can defeat this evil villain, who has poisoned your friend.
You’re in such a mad dash that nothing can stop you in your mad dash. You run through alien homes, and alien trees. Once you “run off the track” you find yourself in Invisible Land, which is connected to each world. While in Invisible Land, you must fight off the evil villain’s evil invisible flying monkeys! However, you can dispatch them easily, as the game does it for you, but you still struggle through Invisible Land.
Once you make it to the end of the world, you acquire a golden goblet of power that can be wielded to defeat the evil villain, and you learn our hero’s name! “You’re Winner!” Ah! So that’s what our hero’s name is, Winner!. Well, now that Winner! now remembers his name he proceeds to the next world. Oh, I can see Winner!’s happy, alien face.
Once you start another new world you find Winner!’s friend right beside him, still dead. Poor Winner!, he’s still mourning his friend’s death.
After going through this world, we acquire another goblet of power and are reminded of Winner!’s name. Hmm… Winner! must be an amnesiac.
Still, despite all of Winner!’s hard efforts, he never obtains his revenge on evil villain. It’s sad… ;_;
But… it’s so beautiful…
The story receives a 10/10 from me.
Now, on to…
Graphics
Now that we know that Big Rigs is set in other, alien worlds, we now understand that these graphics beautifully show us how the other alien worlds look.
It’s… *Sniff*
So beautiful…
Graphics receives a 10/10 from me.
