I'm not into these things so maybe one of you could clear this out for me.


After 5 or 6 years it's starting to get time to replace my battered and battle-scarred nokia 6600.

Sure, everybody mocks how huge it is, but the fact is that I dropped it a 1000 times or more and it never flinched. Lately though my battery wears out rather quickly, the keys more or less stop working from time to time and at the bottom it's a bit cracked from a fall-too-many.

So I've been looking for a replacement for my old friend which has been with me daily for about a quarter of my entire life (I'm not going to sell it, it stays on my closet ).

After some reading on the internet, the Nokia E51 seems to be getting extremely good reviews everywhere, but there are some things that hold me back.

First off, I'm only interested in a Nokia, I've had nothing but good experiences with Nokia phones and have never owned another brand, I've heard and seen a lot of trouble with different brands and I also love the menu of my current Nokia 6600. So Nokia it is.

The purpose of a mobile phone to me is: calling/getting called and text messaging, nothing more, nothing less.

I don't care about cell phone camera's, it's nice to have it available to get license plates and similar stuff but as long as it's 2 megapixels or something it's already decent enough for me, the other stuff I'll use an actual camera for. Same goes for listening to music, I'll use an mp3player for that since it'll kill the battery extremely fast anyway and I couldn't care less about "mobile internet" or whatever either, I have never in my entire life been "online" with a cell phone and I just don't care about it.


So, keeping all of the above in mind:

Pro's with the E51:

- I love the design (I'm thinking about getting the bronze or the black one) which to me looks rather "modern" and "sleak"

- As said before, it gets extremely good reviews all over the place, both from what seem to be "professional reviewers" and just customer feedback as well



Neutral:

- the camera is enough for me so it isn't a problem that most of the time aside from the price it's mentioned as the only real drawback



Con's:

- it's supposed to be a "smart phone", which means you can hook it up to your e-mails and what not, you can play music on it, all kinds of stuff I never use anyway.

- being a "smart phone" it probably means the menu is much more complicated than it needs to be

- rather pricey at 259€ since you can get decent phones at around 100€ from what I hear. Price isn't really a problem per se since I intend on using it a couple of years anyway, but:

- I feel like I might be paying for a lot of stuff I won't be using anyway




So does anybody have any experiences with this phone / knows about another Nokia phone which might suit my tastes better.
