Archief - Waarom kan ik enkel SuSe aan de praat krijgen op mijn Laptop?

Hey, i was trying to install my favourite distro "Ubuntu" on my laptop:

Packard Bell C3245
AMD XP-M 2500+
512Mb Sodimm 266Mhz
30Gigabyte HD 5400rpm

I had a rather weird problem though. When i try to install any linux distribution on it, it always hangs in the beginning except for SuSe 9.1. For Example, when i put in Ubuntu or any other distro. When i pres install from the menu for 3 seconds some stuff comes on the screen (usual lines wich are nothing to worry about) then after 3 seconds the tft screen goes blank but stays lit. I trieds using "Install using Failsafe mode" and "Install using ACPI mode". Nothing seems to work though.

Can someone help me out here because i wan't to run Ubuntu on my laptop and not SuSe 9.1....

Forgive my crappy english Embarassed. This is not my first post here but i created another account because i could not find my old one Laughing. I hope you guys can help me because i'm really sick of that windows XP on my laptop Wink.

Dit is dus het probleem dat ik heb op mijn laptop en tot nu toe lukt het mij nog altijd niet om er een oplossing voor te vinden... Live CD's werken ook niet.

Dat komt omdat je laptop waarschijnlijk drivers nodig heeft voor een bepaalde module die Ubuntu niet kent. SuSe zal die wel hebben.
Ik had het ook voor op m'n laptop, met Ubuntu versie 4.10, maar met 5.04 en de nieuwe breezy was dat allemaal opgelost.

Heb je al eens een extern scherm aan je laptop gehangen en de monitor output daarnaartoe gestuurd? Zo ja, wat geeft dat voor resultaat? Zo nee, probeer dat alvast eerst eens...

BTW Heb je Knoppix er al eens op geprobeerd (is dikwijls handig om dergelijke zaken uit te zoeken ).

Allicht moet je de installatie een extra parameter meegeven voor de framebuffer, probeer het inderdaad eens uit met knoppix, die zegt in het begin welke parameter mogelijk nodig is voor die framebuffer (en probeer dan de ubuntu-install met die parameter bij de install in te geven, normaal wordt dat in het begin gevraagd bij al de distro's die ik al geinstalleerd heb).
