As for gaming experience they both offer nearly same thrill and entertainment.

3. Online Gaming
The online store and gaming is amazing for Xbox 360. Though they are developing stores for playstation 3, it is nothing compared to game playing experience on xbox live.
4. Optical Drive
PS3 is the only gaming console that offers a high quality Blu-Ray Player. On the other hand Microsoft being the supporter HD DVDs, without any surprise they have implemented them in their Xbox. But without going into technical details we can say that, Blu-Ray player is more useful than the HD DVDs as the Blu-Ray format is being accepted by most of movie producers. To watch a Blu-Ray movie you don’t have to buy a separate Blu-Ray Player, your playstation 3 will be more than enough. Also you can play Blu-Ray games which means you need less number of disks to play a game.
5. Controllers
The controllers come with regular AA’s and you can buy the battery pack later, which I like because you can just swap out when it dies or plug in and recharge. There are some controllers like steering wheel or wireless controllers which provides a better gaming experience. On Playstation 3 the Bluetooth connection for controllers sometimes provide very bad synchronization.
6. Price
To be flat and straight, PS3 is more expensive than the 360. The price is too much for a gaming console. But if you keep in mind about the fact that it comes with a Blu-Ray player and free online game playing capability, the product seems to be providing the value for money.
7. Overheating
The Xbox has been notorious for its overheating and malfunctioning. The Red Ring of Death is now a less frequent phenomena with their newer chips but Playstation 3 is a better choice when it comes to reliability of its hardware. To know more read our article on Xbox 360 problems.
8. Aesthetics
Everyone (except the Microsoft fanatics) will agree to me that playstation 3 looks far better than xbox 360. The disk drive over the GPU makes it look horribly bad.
9. Power Consumption
The Xbox consumes far more power than the PS3. See our article Xbox 360 is an energy Hog to know more about it.
10. Other Multimedia Features
PS3 comes with card readers for not just Sony’s Memory Stick, but the more popular SD and CompactFlash as well. You can move photos from memory card to hard drive and back to memory card. I have never seen a device scroll through high-resolution photos faster than the PS3. It even renders your photos in realtime into a 3D animated slideshow, if you so desire. On the other hand, team Xbox knows about your music collection. If the Xbox 360 is connected to your home network (via Ethernet or a $100 Wi-Fi accessory), you can quickly pull up tracks from PCs around the house.
