Savage is, sinds een korte tijd, volledig gratis. De developers vonden het interessanter het gratis weg te gven dan deretail verder te zetten.

"Savage is an online game played much like CS or Quake. However, it is unique in that it combines RTS with FPS (Real Time Strategy with First Person Shooter) for a very different game experience. There is one player on each team, the commander, who mines and builds tech much like any RTS, while the rest of the players on the team get to play the actual units. The commander gives the team orders and builds upgrades and gets better units, etc, all done in a real time game environment."
