Real Madrid's Xabi Alonso Injured In Borussia Dortmund Game
Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso hobbled off in the dying minutes of his side's friendly win over Borussia Dortmund after sustaining a late knock to his left knee.
The extent of Alonso's injury will only become clear in the coming days but Marca reports that the former Liverpool star has suffered bruising to the knee and will likely have to sit out group training sessions this week.
The injury to Alonso was the only bad news on what was otherwise a fantastic night for Los Merengues.
New signing Kaka played a starring role in the 5-0 thumping of Dortmund, while the more familiar Blancos faces of Raul, Gonzalo Higuain, Esteban Granero and Arjen Robben bagged a goal a-piece.
Madrid will now host Norwegian side Rosenborg in Monday's friendly, the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy.
Coach Manuel Pellegrini may have a nervous couple of days ahead as he waits to hear the extent of the damage to Alonso's knee.
