ClanBase takes a new harder line on cheats
by: Vulture
Today we introduce a major revision to the Cheating and Abuse policy. From this moment, proven cheaters caught playing with cheats anywhere (not just in official ClanBase matches) will be subject to our punishments. There are some other minor alteraitions to the policy that are also worthy of note, click for further details.
Until now, it has always been ClanBase policy not to consider pursuing cheats in any match other than official ClanBase matches. The main reason for this being that it was quite simple for someone to "adopt" a player's identity and then purposely get caught cheating, leading to the unfortunate "victim" being accused.
ClanBase recognises the progress that has been made in the identification of players with GUIDs, IP matching etc. and we feel that there are now sufficient safeguards in place to allow a change in this policy.
We also feel that it is important to send a message out to all cheats, would-be-cheats and cheat developers that they can no-longer test their bots in safety, they cannot optimise their settings on public servers to play in official matches on ClanBase.
The rule change:
During a match on a public/clan server or in another league/cup outside ClanBase: punishments are the same as for cheating during a CB match, however ClanBase will only act if the evidence of the cheating is brought to us in full and the identity of the cheater can be determined with certainty. If the evidence is unclear or incomplete, the report will be discarded. Clans will not be held responsible for the actions of their players on public servers unless the cheating player is the clan leader, or the player remains in the clan after it is brought to our attention, in which case the clan(s) will be deleted.

We have also made some other minor changes including:
Banned players are now also banned from ClanBase Hosted Cups.
Corrected wording regarding offensive behaviour towards ClanBase admins.
Introduced standard penalties for abusing other users ClanBase logins.
Corrected wording regarding punishmenst for users producing / distributing game exploits.
We believe that the changes that we have made to The Policy puts ClanBase at the forefront of the fight against online gaming cheats, and hopefully the threat of bans from CB competition will help to reduce the amount of public cheating as the cheats decide that it just isn't worth the risk of getting caught. Rest assured that ClanBase continually reviews this policy, and when we see ways to improve it, we will do So.
